Sheryl at the Hospital
Here is Sheryl, wide-eyed and ready to deliver her baby at 6:40 in the morning.
The Operating Room
Because little Michael was breech, his delivery would be in the form of a c-section. Sheryl is on the table, surrounded by her doctors, nurses, and other interested parties.
The Newborn Babe
Michael Robert was delivered at approximately 8:40 in the morning on February 14, 2005. The "official" time is listed as 8:43 AM, but we think the actual time was about six minutes earlier. Does it matter? Probably not.
Getting Cleaned Off
The only fuss little Michael made was when the nurses first started to wash him off.
Calmed Down
It didn't take very long before Michael grew very calm.
Mother and Child
Helen (Sheryl's mom) showed Michael to his mother for the first time.
Two Very Happy Mothers
Both Sheryl and her mom were very happy to meet Michael.
More Work to do
It took a lot longer to put Sheryl back together after the c-section than it took to open her up. It seemed appropriate that Sheryl's doctor, Dr. Valentine (center) should deliver little Michael on Valentine's Day.
A Big Boy
Michael Robert weighed in at exactly nine pounds.
Ready to Greet the World
Here he is, Michael Robert Wittig in all his glory, ready to greet the world.
A Happy Grandma
Grandson and Grandma got along very well right from the start.
Dr. Valentine
Doctor Valentine hadn't delivered a baby on Valentine's day in eleven years, and was so tickled with the prospect that she agreed to come in on her day off to deliver Michael.
