Joists
Joists. Mounting the joists between the beams was the next phase in the deck construction. This project was made very easy by designing the deck to use lumber of standard dimensions, so the 20' beams remained 20' and the 8' joists remained 8'. No scissors required!
Levelling
Levelling. Of course, it all had to be levelled before the deck went down.
Deck Furniture
Deck Furniture. Sheryl couldn't wait to try out the new deck furniture. No railing yet, and the deck planks haven't even been spaced or fastened, but she wants to see how the furniture will look.
Railing
Railing. Michael was curious to see how the railing would look. The deck planks still haven't been spaced yet.
A Critical Eye
A Critical Eye. Becky was a constant critic of Michael's work while the deck went together.
Walking the Deck
Walking the Deck. Becky soon discovered that the deck offered the best space to use her walker.
More Furniture
More Furniture. Once the deck was complete, it was time to bring out the yard furniture and set it all up.
Late Morning Shade
Late Morning Shade. The deck gets some good morning sun, some midday shade, and more afternoon sun, up until about six o'clock when the sun goes below the roofline.
